On the day itself - useful reminders
Something for the whole family - There will be a bouncy castle, face painting, tombola and raffle stalls as well as hot dog, drink and cake stalls. A fire engine will be at the college and the Sawston Youth Group band will provide entertainment in the village centre; so come and join in the fun; the atmosphere is special..
Star Radio - is proud to support the 31st Sawston Fun Run. Lottie from the Star Radio Breakfast and Craig Dane, Star Daytimes Presenter will be at the event. Take a photo on the day and post it to one of our social media accounts, Facebook.com/starradioonline, Twitter @starradioonline and Instagram @starradioonline and see your pictures from the event.
Aerobics warm-up - local fitness instructor Marlene Sharpe-Westwood
- Marlene’s mass ‘warm-up’ has become a feature with hundreds doing aerobics to her music - all part of the fun!
Sports Massage Therapists on hand - Sports Corrective Therapy and Relief Chiropractic Health Clinic will be available to help you warm up for your run with a fast light massage to invigorate muscles helping to prevent injuries and increasing performance. Post-event sports massage is a deeper and slower massage to help remove waste products from the muscles using stretches and drainage techniques, relaxing the muscles and helping to reduce delayed onset muscle soreness.
Bottles of Water for entrants - Bottles of still Spring Water, kindly donated by Tesco, will be given to all entrants - just another example of the willingness of the local business community to back the event.
Roads and Safety - notices to registration and residents - The four access roads into Sawston will be subject to official ‘road closure orders’ from 10.00am to 12.00am. Great care should be exercised everywhere and Sawston residents, on the race route, are asked to restrict their use of cars and to keep the streets free from parked cars for that period please.
Race routes - As well as the traditional route of 7.4K [4.6miles] there is a short route of 4K [2.5miles) for school years 1-6; trophies will be awarded to the first three children in this age group at this distance. Parents, fancy dress walkers and others may also take the shorter route, if they wish.
